What to feed new ducklings?
We have just found a duckling and I searched the Internet to see what they eat and it says pelleted mash, or un-medicated chick starter although I have been unable to find this food where I live. I read that they like hard which we started feeding him with, but that is all he will eat now along with some bread. I've tried chopped vegetable scraps, meal worms and some corn meal, but he only likes the bread and the eggs. I am sure that this is not going to be the best of diets for him. Can anyone help out on this matter?
Thanks

Re: What to feed new ducklings?
Hi Bob
I see no one has answered your question, but trust that the duckling is still doing alright. You really sbouldn't be feeding your duckling bread, because if the bread is moldy this could prove fatal for your duckling. If you cannot find duck starter feed in your area, then you can also add some lettuce and grass clippings to its diet. Make sure that it is also getting enough grit to breakdown its food. This the duckling should find on its own outside, but if not you can try parakeet grit from the pet store or small grit collected from outside. Just remember not to over feed your duckling. They will eat more than they really need to if you don't watch them carefully!
Good luck!

Actually it didn't make it after all. I think it was a case of lack of warmth, rather than anything else. Thanks for the reply, much appreciated.
