Organic Vegetables - Rip off???
I am new to this site but hope someone can answer my question. I would love to buy organic vegetables from a health point of view but every time I go shopping and look at the prices of organic fruit and vegetables I can't bring myself to pay such high prices compared to ordinary vegetables. Why are organic vegetables and fruit so expensive, especially as they are grown without the insecticides, chemical fertilizers etc. that the farmers have to buy to grow ordinary vegetables. It doesn't make sense. I would have thought that as a result of this, they should be cheaper. Or have I missed something

Re: Organic Vegetables - Rip off???
I know that many people complain about the high cost of organic food, but I don't see it as being a 'rip off' as you have said. I think it's just down to basic economics - supply vs demand. When the demand from the public is great enough prices should come down.

high priced organics
i beleive that the high cost of organic food is not only because of supply and demand but without man made help from pesticides fertilizer your crops do not have as big of a yeild due to losses from bugs and other factors i had 2 gardens last season one i used advanced nutrients 15 24 15 i think and the other i used manure from my cows and the AN had over double of the yeild everything was huge carrots potatoes everything and there was no difference in taste at all
